Book (1935) Page(s) 207. Walter Easlea. Reminiscences. I well remember the excitement caused when we exhibited baskets of 'William Allen Richardson', L'Ideale', 'Ma Capucine', 'Marie van Houtte' etc. Our method of cutting was to take the baskets to various points in the nursery in late afternoon, cut the blooms and put them at once into the bottles, which were embedded in moss. They went by road in a large van, and staged just as they were cut with all their lovely buds, and no wires, and if they were not so grand as our present day exhibits, I maintain they were more natural, mainly because the decorative Roses of today are mutilated by disbudding.
