'Atropurpurea' rose Reviews & Comments

The one in L'Haÿ-les-Roses is (most probably) Cibles. The references say "quite full" in 1907 and "single flowered" in 1910, and even though it is not the closest to variety release date, I would somehow trust more the 1910 reference of a single flowered variety for it comes from the brother of the breeder himself, hence, I would believe, quite well placed to know the true one. On the other hand, if damascena was used as the pollen parent, it is quite surprising that it would create a single flowered clone, but maybe that's why Paul selected it.... Did anyone see the plant in Sangerhausen bloom and could give insight on wether it is the true one or a doubtful one? Thanks!
