Can anybody confirm the seed parent of ‘Veterans’ Honour’ 1997. Is there a Patent? Was it ‘Showstopper’ 1981 or ‘Salsa’ 1988 (Showstopper x seedling)

Veteran's Honor is winter hardy in zone 5a but very tiny as own-root. The scent is cherry in my alkaline clay, it's a lighter scent than Oklahoma (lychee fruity).

some rate the fragrance of VH as none to mild.... That seems to contradict with your comments, could you tell me is the scent of VH strong enough? thank you.

I grow VH as own-root in a slightly acidic potting soil (with pH 5 rain-water) - slight scent on the bush, but the scent becomes stronger (cherry) in a vase with alkaline tap-water (pH 9). I put into my alkaline clay recently, will report the scent when it blooms next year.
After sniffing my VH as own-root, I don't think VH scent is strong enough on the bush. My friend with a strong scent on VH: her Munstead Wood's scent is many times stronger than my Munstead Wood (own-root). My friend's VH is grafted on Dr. Huey in alkaline clay, plus she fertilizes with chicken-manure and fish-emulsion .. those factors can make the scent stronger. Also 1st year roses don't have much scent, but the scent becomes stronger in 2nd and 3rd year. I was very disappointed with the light scents on Christopher Marlowe & W.S. 2000 & Tchaikovsky as own-roots in their 1st year. But in the 2nd and 3rd year .. all those scents went from light to strong.

Three strikes and I am out. I didn't find any of the three roses on the website that you referenced.
Perhaps you can let me/us know how you found them. Thank you.

For Veteran's Honor Click on Jackson & Perkins on the top of their home page. They are listed alphabetically. What were the other 2 I referenced? If it was Golden Gate and Winter Sun Click on Kordes on the top of their home page.

You have to "take care of" this one a bit more than some roses... but the rewards in super excellent color/form are worth it! It even has a mild scent.
