....1. Amelie SIEB. It has yellow stamens, the petals are obovate, lightly blue striped in the middle, and light lilac-colored at the edges. The petals are 0.07 long and 5.03 wide. Squire VON SIEBOLD dedicated this variety to HRH PRINCESS AMALIA, Consort of HRH PRINCE HENDRIK DER NEDERLANDEN. The beautiful and soft light lilac color and the translucence of the petals recommend this variety above many others.

It has dark colored stamens; the petals are more or less elliptical, white, light yellow in the center with translucent veins that meet at the tip; aside these veins are thin and translucent veins. The petals are broader than in most other varieties and end in a yellow point. They are 0.07 long and 0.75 wide. Squire. VON SIEBOLD dedicated this variety to HRH PRINCESS LOUISE, Daughter of HRH PRINCE FREDERIK DER NEDERLANDEN, Crown Princess of Sweden and Norway.

OVER EENIGE VERSCHEIDENHEDEN VAN CLEMATIS FLORIDA AZUREA, SIEB.
IN NEDERLAND INGEVOERD EN DOOR KULTUUR VERKREGEN, DOOR Jhr. VON SIEBOLD.
Onder de belangrijke gewassen in de verzameling van JHR. VON SIEBOLD, welke door hunnen schoonen en rijken bloei uitmunten, zijn de verscheidenheden van Clematis, welk op onze Pl. VIII van 1-7 zijn afgebeeld. De verscheidenheden no 1 en 2 zijn ingevoerd uit Japan en de overige zijn door zaad verkregen. Wij hebben ze dit jaar, in Junij, bewonderd. Wij bieden er den Lezers van de Flora slechts zeven in afbeelding, doch zouden er wel een getal van vijftig of zelfs meerdere kunnen voorstellen. De Heer JHR. VON SIEBOLD gaf aan enkele meer standvastige verscheidenheden de namen van Vorstinnen van onze Koninklijke familie; wij durven evenwel, wat de andere nu geziene verscheidenheden betreft, zijn voorbeeld voor als nog niet navolgen, omdat wij niet met zekerheid durven bepalen, in hoe verre die overige vormen standvastig zullen zijn, hoezeer wij volgaarne toejuichen het benoemen van zulke schoone natuurvoortbrengselen, met de namen van onze hoogst geëerbiedigde Vorstinnen.
Wij willen van de verschillende verscheidenheden opteekenen, wat wij daarin bovenal hebben onderscheiden, inzonderheid voor zoo verre de bloemen aangaat.
1. Amelie SIEB. Zij heeft gele meeldraden, de bloembladen zijn omgekeerdeirond, in 't midden licht blaauw gestreept, aan de randen zijn zij licht lila-kleurig. De bloembladen zijn 0,07 lang en 5,03 breed.
JHR. VON SIEBOLD droeg deze verscheidenheid op aan H. K. H. PRINSES AMALIA, Gemalin van Z. K. H. PRINS HENDRIK DER NEDERLANDEN. De schoone en zachte lichte lila-kleur en het doorschijnende der bloembladen bevelen die verscheidenheid aan boven vele andere.
2. Louise SIEB. Zij heeft donker gekleurde meeldraden; de bloembladen zijn meer of min elliptisch, wit, lichtgeel in 't midden met doorschijnende nerven, die aan de punt zamenloopen; terzijde van deze nerven zijn dunne en doorschijnende aders. De bloembladen zijn breeder dan in de meeste andere verscheidenheden en zij eindigen in eene gele punt. Zij zijn 0,07 lang, en 0,75 breed.
JBR. VON SIEBOLD heeft deze verscheidenheid opgedragen aan H. K. H. PRINSES LOUISE, Dochter van Z. K. H. PRINS FREDERIK DER NEDERLANDEN, Kroonprinses van Zweden en Noorwegen.
3. Var. Gele meeldraden. De bloembladen in het midden eenigzins lichtgeel, met eene lila-kleurige middennerf, zijdelings donkerder lila-kleurig, de punten eenigzins omgebogen. Lengte 0,07. Breedte 0,03.
4. Var. De meeldraden bruinachtig gekleurd, de bloembladen in 't midden met eene gele streep, zijdelings bleek en naar den rand rosé. Lengte 0,05. Breedte 0,02.
5. Var. Komt aan de overige zeer nabij, is in 't midden bleek, naar de randen eenigzins paarsachtig. Afmetingen als bij de vorige verscheidenheid.
6. Var. De meeldraden zeer donker gekleurd. De bloembladen in 't midden roodpaars, aan de randen donker lila-kleurig. Lengte 0,06. Breedte 0,02.
7. Var. De meeldraden zijn donkerbruin. De bloembladen zijn in 't midden flaauw-, aan de randen iets donkerder lila-kleurig. De geheele bloem is cenigzins bleeker dan de overige, De bloembladen hebben op den rug eene groene streep in het midden. Afmetingen als bij no. 3. Van 3-7 zijn verscheidenheden uit zaden.
Wij bevelen deze schoone planten, den beminnaren van rijk en prachtig bloeijende gewassen dringend aan. Het is te voorzien dat zij, even als die welke de Heer VON SIEBOLD reeds heeft in den handel gebragt, zullen worden getrokken. De schoone plaat, welke dit kort berigt versiert, is gemaakt naar eene voortreffelijke teekening van onzen vriend, den Schout bij Nacht VERHUELL. De kultuur moet zijn even als die van alle andere Clematis-soorten, in de open lucht, op perken, of langs muren.

Among the important crops in Squire VON SIEBOLD's collection, which stand out for their beautiful and rich flowering, are the varieties of Clematis, which grow on our Pl. VIII of 1-7 are depicted. Varieties No. 1 and 2 are imported from Japan and the rest are obtained by seed. We admired them this year, in June. We offer the Readers of the Flora only seven in illustration, but could represent a number of fifty or even more. Squire VON SIEBOLD gave to some of the more steadfast varieties the names of Queens of our Royal family; However, as far as the other varieties now seen are concerned, we do not dare to imitate his example, because we do not dare to determine with certainty how far these other forms will be stable, how much we welcome the naming of such beautiful natural products, with the names of our highly respected Queens. We would like to record what we have distinguished from the different varieties, especially as far as the flowers are concerned.

We strongly recommend these beautiful plants to lovers of richly and beautifully flowering crops. It is to be expected that they will be drawn, just like those that Squire VON SIEBOLD has already put on the market.
