Bred by J. Thuilleaux (France, circa 1918).
Class:
Early Large Flowered, Group 2.
Bloom:
Pink.  6 to 8 petals.  Average diameter 8".  Large, single bloom form.  Late spring to early summer, late summer to early autumn.
Habit:

Height: 6' to 8' (185 to 245cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Plant in partial shade to prevent fading of bloom color.  Suitable for growing in a container.  This plant blooms twice.  It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring.  However, if you garden in a place with cold winters, Mother Nature will more than likely prune the plant for you.  It will bloom a second time on new growth.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Diploid

Notes:
In French, the word souvenir means "in remembrance of..." In this case, the breeder name this clematis in memory of his son who was killed in the First World War.
