In my zone 7 garden this rose did not impress. It's colors were appealing but it grew 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide with only a moderate number of unfragrant blooms. The plant itself is disease prone and not well foliated.

When it was new, it was a "thing". Most roses in this color, like 'Flaming Beauty' was either small, like 'Redgold' or really tender, like 'Flaming Beauty'. So this was a large-flowered easy-to-grow version of what people wanted. However, it has issues, and they become really obvious as the years pass beyond its introduction.

Now, there are roses like 'Love and Peace', and so on.

I really like this very vigorous growing rose in my zone 5/6 garden. It has no scent. The color of the blooms are a deep yellow with deep pink/red outer petals that really set it off. It is quite an attention getter from visitors to my garden. It is loaded with blooms with each flush and it repeats very quickly. The blooms are quite large as well and make a good cut flower even though the form is not always the best, they are still very adequate. Try this one as I think you will really appreciate for your garden. Just give it plenty of room to spread out!!

Thank you for your desert rose input. How does it do in heat?
