Bloom:
Lilac and white. Strong, clover, honey, sweet-pea fragrance. 25 to 50 petals. Average diameter 1.5". Cluster-flowered, cupped-to-flat bloom form. Prolific, blooms in flushes throughout the season. Small, pointed, ovoid buds.
Habit:
Medium, armed with thorns / prickles, narrow, upright, well-branched. Medium, semi-glossy, medium green, edged purple-red foliage.
Height: 4' to 7' (120 to 215cm). Width: 3' to 6' (90 to 185cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 5a and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, garden, landscape or specimen. Vigorous. can be grown as a shrub. drought resistant. flowers drop off cleanly. heat tolerant. prefers full sun. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, very blackspot resistant., mildew resistant, very rust resistant. Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood.. Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection). Needs little care; relatively disease-free and quite hardy.
Breeder's notes:
I have not attempted to grow open pollinated seed from this rose, but it does produce seed easily. Given its pedigree, I am guessing its either a Diploid or a fertile Triploid. I believe this has potential value as a breeder of new Polyantha style roses.
Think of this Hybrid Musk as similar in style to 'Excellenz von Schubert'.
