Bred by Tim Hermann Kordes (Germany, 1998).
Introduced in Germany by W. Kordes' Söhne (Retail) in 2009 as 'Purple Rain'.
Class:
Shrub.  
Bloom:
Purple blend.  Mild fragrance.  65 to 70 petals.  Average diameter 1.75".  Small to medium, very full (41+ petals), in small clusters, rosette bloom form.  Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Small, leafy sepals, pointed, ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Short, bushy, spreading.  Semi-glossy, medium green foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 16" to 20" (40 to 50cm).  Width: up to 28" (up to 70cm).
Growing:
Can be used for ground cover.  Disease susceptibility: very blackspot resistant., mildew resistant.

‘KORpurlig’ was the resultant seedling from a cross between an unnamed seedling seed parent and the pollen parent ‘KORpeligo’ in May 1998 at the breeding facility of W. Kordes Sohne in Sparrieshoop, Germany. The seedling was selected in May 1999 and was budded onto Rosa canina planted in the open field. Follow up selections took place in 2000 and 2007 and was commercially introduced in 2008. Breeder: Wilhelm Kordes.
