Origin:

Bred by Jean-Pierre Vibert (France, 1842).
Introduced in Australia by Northampton Nurseries in 1861 as 'La Négresse'.

Bloom:

Crimson, dark purple shading. Strong fragrance. Small to medium, full (26-40 petals), expanded bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Habit:

Short, well-branched.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
