Bred by Eugene S. Boerner (United States, before 1956).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Dickson Nurseries Ltd. / Dickson Roses in 1956 as 'Firecracker'.
Introduced in United Kingdom by Samuel McGredy and Son, Nurserymen (Northern Ireland) in 1956 as 'Firecracker'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1959 as 'Firecracker'.
Class:
Floribunda.  
Bloom:
Scarlet.  Strong fragrance.  15 to 20 petals.  Average diameter 4.25".  Large, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in large clusters, flat, open bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Medium, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Short, bushy, well-branched.  Large, light green, leathery foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 2' (60cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for beds and borders, container rose or garden.

...originated by me by crossing an unnamed and unpatented seedling derived from a cross of the variety Pinocchio (Plant patent No. 484) by an unnamed and unpatented red-flowered seedling, with another unnamed and unpatented seedling derived from crossing the variety "Dickson's Red" (Plant patent No. 376) by an unnamed an unpatented seedling not identified.
Notes:
Patent application states a different pollen parent than Modern Roses.
