Growing roses at high altitude (at 6500 feet in the Sierra Nevada) has proven challenging and rewarding. I have several David Austin roses, the hardy Canadian roses (Explorer series) and some rugosas. I love my 10-year-old rose garden, planted in a border with native companions.
