Volunteer at the California Nursery Historical Park in Fremont (Niles District). We have 400 roses at the park, some of which are significant to the nursery. The CNCo sold roses from the first catalog to the last. The park is the last 20 acres of the 463 acre grounds established here in Niles by John Rock in 1884. In 1917 George C. Roeding bought the CNCo and combined it with his Fancher Creek Nursery in Fresno and other nurseries. The nursery went out of business in the 1970s. The park has archives going back to John Rock's original San Jose nursery established in 1865. I help in the rose garden and general grounds. I periodically help out in the nursery archives at the park, at the Fremont Main Library, and at the Washington Township Museum of Local History.
