Over 15 years ago I had a garden of roses, perennials and other. Just planted one last year at a new residence, John Davis, which I had prior. It was planted in August 2014. We'll see how it weathers the winter. It's tarped and hilled up.
Many years ago I was a society member and was on the executive for a year. Attended and entered the shows of course and learned a great deal about roses. While on the Executive Committee there were a group of us who really wanted to see the shrub rose category expand at the Rose Show (Explorer Roses and Austin Roses et al.) We kept promoting the idea because we really liked the shrubs roses for many reasons. Some new categories were added in which I guess would make them more popular all round. People would see the categories and go out and buy them to compete. This was around 1995/6.
