[From www.welt-der-rosen.de] Hermann Kiese (1865-1923) was for 22 years head gardener by J.C. Schmidt in Erfurt. In 1904 he started his own nursery in Wieselbach near Erfurt. During 1911-1919 he was also editor of the "Rosenzeitung".
[From The Book on Roses, by Dr. G. Griffin Lewis, p. 138:] H. Kiese was born at Vieslbeck, Germany, on May 8, 1865, and died on September 22, 1923. He specialized in Hybrid Polyanthas, and Climbers, but introduced some Hybrid Teas.

[From Thüringische Landeszeitung, 4 September 2021:] Hermann Kiese was born February 5, 1865 in Pomnitz (Silesia)...he came 1887 as chief gardener to to the company J. C. Schmidt in Erfurt. ...In 1906 E. Abelmann and H. Kiese founded their own nursery in Vieselbach. In 1908, this became H. Kiese & Co. .... After the death of Hermann Kiese on 9 December 1923 his son Wilhelm Kiese took over the company of his father.
