Norman Mackenzie Ross was born at Craigend in Scotland and came to Canada when 17 in 1893. He was hired at the Forest Nursery Station in Indian Head, Saskatchewan in 1901 as Assistant Superintendent to the Chief of Tree Planting Program for Forestry and later became Superintendent of the Forest Nursery Station for Agriculture.
