p41. Frank Douglas (Doug) Toogood was born in 1893 and died in 1973. He operated a florist and nursery at 35 McKean Street, Box Hill, Victoria, where roses were commonly used in floristry work and rose plants and fruit trees supplied in the winter. He was an accomplished painter. ‘Birthday present’ was so named as it was first seen to bloom on his birthday.
