[From La Belgique horticole, Vol. 24, 1874, p. 46:] M. Claude Ducher, excellent rosiériste à Lyon, est décédé presque subitement le 21 janvier 1874, à l’âge de 54 ans.
[From Les Amis des Roses, April-December 1940, p. 13:] Claude Ducher vient de mourir le 21 janvier 1874, âgé de 54 ans seulement. Né en 1820, il s'est intéressé dès son adolescence à la culture des Roses. Il a créé son établissement en 1845, et lui l'un des premiers semeurs Lyonnais.
[From The Quest for the Rose, by Phillips & Rix, p. 114:] Claude Ducher began breeding roses in Lyon in 1835. Ducher raised many fine roses, some of which are still grown, notably the Noisettes 'Rêve d'Or' (1869) and 'Bouquet d'Or' (1872) and the Tea 'Marie van Houtte' (1871).
[From Botanica's Roses, p. 210:] Jean-Claude Ducher was one of the most esteemed hybridizers during the golden age of rose production in Lyon, France.
