John Franklin Styer (1900 Concordville - January 1, 1996 Bend OR), J. Franklin Styer Nurseries, Concordville, Pennsylvania. [From History of J. Franklin Nurseries by Karen Furst, 1996:] "Franklin ran the business from the year of his father’s death in 1924 until his retirement, during which time he became a horticulturist of national reputation. In 1933 he published a book called Modern Mushroom Culture, which is still available today on Amazon. He was a long-time member of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and founded the Gold Medal Plant Award to promote ornamental woody plants with extraordinary garden merit."
