André Chabert (June 19, 1915 Lyon? - September 14, 2012 Nice?), son of Joseph Chabert, started breeding roses in Givors. On January 1, 1955 he joined the nursery Delbard in Malicornes and took on the name of Delbard-Chabert for commercial purposes. He was the actual breeder of Delbard roses in the following years and was succeeded in 1977 by Guy Delbard, Georges Delbard's youngest son.

[From The Rose Annual, 1973, p. 80ff.:] "The Men Behind the New Roses. Georges Delbard and Andre Chabert." by Nigel Raban...
Delbard was so impressed by what he saw [at Joseph Chabert] that, on the shake of a hand, he made an agreement whereby he would propagate all the Chabert seedlings. André , Joseph's son , was to join the firm and Joseph himself would do so on his retirement from schoolmastering . Unfortunately , Joseph Chabert died suddenly , shortly after this agreement had been concluded , but André was immediately installed at Evry , where Georges Delbard had fifteen acres of land adjoining the great farm formerly in the possession of the Duc d'Antin , and later belonging to Madame de Montespan , the favourite of Louis XIV .
