Gorgeous! I have a young plant of this in a two gallon pot from ARE. It is loaded with buds. I grow Veilchenblau and it doesn't bloom till June. Do you happen to know if Violette blooms earlier than Veilchenblau? I'm curious since I plan on planting this one near the other.

I grow Violette but not Veilchenblau (not for any particular reason :) Violette is a truly striking rose. I'm in central NC (7b) and my planting is just on the verge of popping (04/26/2012). It usually does so around the first of May, give or take a week or two. We had a very mild winter and early spring this year.

The ARS Encyclopedia states, "The color is best appreciate when 'Violette' is grown next to its putative parent, 'Veilchenblau' which appears pink-mauve by comaprison". Perhaps we can assume they generally follow the same bloom cycle?

I think so. My big plant of Veilchenblau is also full of buds, though still green. Thank you. I'm putting my Violette near its parent, with Bubble Bath and Ghislaine de Feligonde in between.
