'Alba Maxima' rose Reviews & Comments

I found this rose growing in an old cottage garden ten years ago and I pinched a small slip from it. Four years ago I moved it but I could not have removed all the roots. A shoot appeared later in the year and I've left it to grow. However this new plant only has semi-double flowers not the fully double with a button eye that 'Alba Maxima' has.

I wonder if it the shoot that appeared was a seedling, and not part of the original plant? The seed might have liked the disturbed soil and space.

'Alba Maxima' does not set seed in my garden, the original plant from which my plant came from is growing in a warmer location and does set a few hips. The shoot that grew from the roots remaining in the soil was too strong and vigorous growing to be a seedling. I was wondering if 'Alba Maxima' might be a chimera?
