This is a relatively small public garden, rectangular in shape and bounded on all sides by town streets. It features many large, mature trees, most if not all of which are exotic to New Zealand. There are many spectacular rhododendrons blooming in spring, along with a good collection of tree and herbaceous paeonies. Neatly trimmed lawns and seasonal annual borders ensure the garden has colour and interest all year round. A well maintained collection of modern roses provides interest through late spring, summer and autumn.
