Hi Hannes! I am very impressed with your rose selection,especially interested in St.Elisabeth of Hungary by Mr.Mark. Heirloom roses sells it here. I like your photos of this rose. I am looking for a very fragrant and constantly blooming climber now for a gazebo.Can you describe me the fragrance , can you smell it at a distance of 1-2 meters away. Is it as strong as Zepherine Drouhin bourbon rose? Does it bloom in spring and then from time to time some flowers or is it in flashes 2-3-4 for a season? Is it thornless?

Thank you for your message. I like 'St Elisabeth of Hungary' very much, think it is an excellent rose with beautiful flowers, also very healthy in my garden.
As for fragrance, this is not that easy to say as people seem to experience scent differently. For my nose the fragrance is pleasant but not strong, not wafting and not the heayvy "old-rose-fragrance" you might have in mind. 'St Elisabeth of Hungary' in my garden has a strong first flush and then some flowers from time to time until very late in December. BUT: my plant grows in partial shade, I think the rose would be much more floriferous in full sun. I have the rose on a sort of obelisk, also have seen it on arches but the canes are not that easy to train. So I do think the easiest way to grow it would be as a large shrub with support. The rose is not completely thornless but there are not many prickles either.

Hi Hannes ! Thanks for getting back to me. Your information about St.Elisabeth of Hungary was very informative.I include it to my list , the photos of cluster blooming photo at HMF melt my heart.
