The red rose, Dublin Bay, blooming in the lower garden, with a white shrub rose attributed to the Danish Hybridizer Dorus Theus Poulsen, who died in 1925, in the background. I don't know the name of this rose. It has been blooming here more less non-stop eight months of year. I purchased it at a big box store about 30 years ago. It is trouble free. In this hot humid climate most roses slow down their reblooming in mid summer and pick up again in the Fall. If I babied them more they might keep going but I refuse to do it. There is a sort of "Cherry DOTS candy" quality to the Dublin bay Petals, as though they were made from semi-translucent starch paste. That's not evident in the photo however. Chances are this rose came from Pickering. It is currently not doing well and in decline. This photo is from a happier time for it.
