Taken in Sacramento Historic Rose Garden, March 2009. Bloom in early spring showing severe phyllody or vegetative center. This rose can be spectacular at times, but consistently has vegetative centers. This bloom shows the largest veggie center that I've seen. We do not fertilize heavily (which can cause phyllody), rather this rose is more prone to it than other teas.
