Origin:
Bred by Philippe-André de Vilmorin (1770-1862) (France, 1823).
Discovered by Unknown (1789).
Introduced in United Kingdom by Henry Shailer in before 1805 as 'Rosa muscosa provincialis var. flore pallido Andr.'.
Introduced in Australia by Northampton Nurseries in 1861 as 'Blush Moss'.
Class:
Centifolia, Moss.  
Bloom:
Blush, darker center. [Light pink, deep pink center. .].  Average diameter 2".  Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Mossed buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, compact.  Dense foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
It is not certain that Andrews was describing 'Blush Moss' with his "Pale-flowered variety", but the timing could fit.
