ARS:
White, near white or white blend.
Class:
Hybrid Spinosissima, Shrub.
Bloom:
White, cream undertones. Moderate, wild rose fragrance. Average diameter 2". Small to medium, single to semi-double, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Medium, bushy, dense, mounded, upright. Small, matte, medium green, attractive fall color foliage.
Growing:
USDA zone 3b and warmer. Very hardy. vigorous. flowers drop off cleanly. rain tolerant. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant. Remove unproductive wood every third year or so. This rose blooms on old wood.
Breeder's notes:
Graceful, mounded growth habit, much better than that of either of its parents. I can only praise this rose. Even the lack of hips is a pro because thus the bush looks tidy all year round.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The pollen parent is almost certainly Rosa pimpinellifolia 'plena', known as 'Juhannusruusu' in Finland. 'Helvi' has very few hips, suggesting that it is triploid. Does not produce pollen. No suckering and no sign of disease so far (2013).
