'De la Flèche' rose Description

Bloom:
Dark red or deep pink, purple shading, yellow stamens. Moderate fragrance. 15 to 25 petals. Average diameter 1.5". Small to medium, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped, expanded , rosette bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer. Mossed buds.
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles. Small, dark green foliage. 5 to 7 leaflets.
Height: 18" to 20" (45 to 50cm).
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Was confused in commerce with Shailer's 'Scarlet Moss', which see.
Also confused with Mauget's Moss Rose, 'A Fleurs d'Anémone', which was probably introduced in the early 1840's or late 1830's. This latter confusion was due to Thory renaming 'Mousseuse de la Flèche' as 'Rosa muscosa anemone-flora'.
These incorrect synonyms relegated to Hidden Names.
