"Comtesse de Lacépède - in commerce as" rose References

"Comtesse de Lacépède" Gallica. No rebloom. Outstanding fragrance. Stout caned, moderately suckering, arching...(ex Hortico). As pointed out by Suzanne Verrier in her book Rosa Gallica, this name is incorrect, the original of this name being a double white. Nonetheless a handsome Gallica of deep crimson, very double, of excellent fragrance, this is different from all others we grow.

Comtesse de Lacépède.  (Probably Centifolia origin). Superb, many-petalled variety with cupped buds opening to flattish flowers of pale lavender to pinkish white. Scented. c1840. (Not fully authenticated but, I believe, correct). R. 3 x 3’.
