Origin:
Bred by Paul Barden (United States, 2007).
Class:
Floribunda.  
Bloom:
Dark purple and fuchsia / magenta.  Strong, old rose, raspberry, sweet-pea fragrance.  40 to 65 petals.  Average diameter 3.5".  Medium-large, very full (41+ petals), in small clusters, cupped-to-flat, old-fashioned, quartered bloom form.  Moderate, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Medium, rounded buds.  
Habit:
Compact.  Large, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.  3 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 30" to 5' (75 to 150cm).  Width: 30" to 5' (75 to 150cm).
Growing:
Can be used for container rose, cut flower, shrub or specimen.  
Breeder's notes:
I believe this has excellent potential. Its fragrance is superb and matches the bloom color beautifully. I have propagated this seedling (Fall 2009) and expect to see improved vigor in the plant in 2010. Often a seedling performs better once it has been propagated, exceeding the original seedling's vigor. Why this is I have no idea.

Update 2024: In the past 2 years, a few friends have grown this rose in climates different from my own and the rose has performed better than expected. And so, I have decided to formally register this variety as ARDclara (Clara Thomson). I have sent this out for propagation, and the nursery will undoubtedly announce availability when it has plants to offer.
