'Rosa arkansana Porter' rose Description

Origin:
Discovered by Unknown (1880). Introduced by Unknown in 1917 as ' Rosa arkansana Porter'.
Bloom:
Light pink to deep pink. Also white. up to 5 petals. Average diameter 1.75". Small to medium, single (4-8 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Arching, armed with thorns / prickles, bristly , bushy, upright. Medium, semi-glossy, medium green foliage. 7 to 11 leaflets.
Height: 1' to 4' (30 to 120cm). Width: 3' (90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 3a and warmer. Vigorous.

Notes:
Section Cinnamomeae. This rose was named for the Arkansas River in the state of Colorado. Rosa arkansana was first described by Professor Thomas C. Porter as a result of plant collections made by the U.S. Geological Survey in Colorado from 1861 through 1873. See references.
