Bred by F. Harmon Saville (1924-1997) (United States, 1991).
Introduced in United States by Nor' East Miniature Roses in 2001 as 'Montana'.
Class:
Miniature.  
Bloom:
Dark red, red reverse.  Mild fragrance.  24 to 30 petals.  Average diameter 1.75".  Small to medium, very double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Medium, leafy sepals, ovoid buds.  
Habit:
Medium, compact, upright, well-branched.  Medium, semi-glossy, medium green foliage.  3 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 18" to 21" (45 to 55cm).  Width: 20" to 2' (50 to 60cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower or garden.  Flowers drop off cleanly.  Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

The new variety was created by crossing as seed parent the variety known as ‘BENALAV’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 6,517) and as pollen parent, the variety known as ‘RUMIRED’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 5,770). The varietal denomination of the new variety is ‘SAVAMONT’. .... observations were made of 5 year-old plants of the new variety grown in 2-gallon plastic containers in Essex County, Mass
