Purple and red. Strong fragrance. 40 petals. Average diameter 4". Large, full (26-40 petals), cupped, globular bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Disease susceptibility: susceptible to rust .

Notes:
Louis Van Houtte was born at Ypres 29 June 1810 and died at Ghent 9 May 1876. Well-known Belgian horticulturalist... his very large company propagated many plants. He published Flore des Serres et Jardins de l'Europe, a veritable plant museum including over 2,000 colored plates... the prince of 19th Century horticulture. The labels of 'Mme van Houtte' and 'Louis van Houtte' at L'Hay are juxtaposed.
