Dedicated to Georg Arends (September 21, 1863 Essen - March 5, 1952), German horticulturist, breeder of herbaceous perennials. Georg Arends' nursery for herbaceous plants was in existence at least 1905-1960 at Wuppertal-Ronsdorf in Germany. There is no evidence that 'Fortuné Besson' was considered a synonym of 'Georg Arends' except Mr. Nicolas' statement in 1930 and an article by Dr. L. Morel in 1934.- see References. Early references stated that 'Georg Arends' was a sport of 'Frau Karl Druschki'
