Breeder's notes:
In an article in the New Zealand Heritage Rose Journal, Ken Nobbs wrote “Ann Endt is a genuine old rose which Mrs Steen acquired and which she has never seen in her travels overseas. She thought it might be a cross between R. rugosa and R. foliolosa, an American species. It is too good and striking a rose to be nameless, and so with Ann’s permission and knowing it was a favourite of hers, I had it registered though the National Rose Society.” reported by Ann Chapman - on www.rosarosam.com and her book “Women in my Rose Garden”.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
A book has been written about Anne Endt, entitled Anne Endt's legacy, written & collated by Annemarie Endt-Ferwerda, Dutchwoman who emigrated to New Zealand in 1951 and created an iconic rose garden. The first name is written both as Ann and Anne. Nigel Pratt of Tasman Bay Roses says this rose has single-petalled flowers of rich magenta, dark red hips and attractive foliage... Trinity Farms says this rose is a big New Zealand shrub of great quality. It has large single magenta blooms with prominent yellow stamens. The hips are like burnished copper aging to orange-red... Finegand Nursery says this rose has single-petalled flowers of rich magenta. It sets dark red hips and has attractive foliage.
