Bred by Alister Clark (1864-1949) (Australia, 1922).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'Scorcher'.
Class:
Climber, Hybrid Tea, Cl., Large-Flowered Climber.  
Bloom:
Crimson - scarlet.  Moderate fragrance.  Average diameter 4".  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals), open bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Climbing.  Large, wrinkled (rugose) foliage.  

Height: up to 10' (up to 305cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.
