Rose Specialists Since 1967.
In 1967, Yves Dupouy set up a company to cultivate cut flowers in a greenhouse. His cultivating methods represented a real breakthrough for the "Vaucluse" as no one was cultivating flowers in this way. Basically, Dupouy found a productive use of discharged hot water from the nuclear power plant. Y. Dupouy & Fils cultivate five acres of roses on three different sites. At the Avignon (Vaucluse) site, roses are grown the traditional way, that is two varieties are planted in soil. The first variety has a medium stem and a big flower ('Royal Red' and 'Starlite', for instance), the second is called a "spray" (a stem with many flowers). The other sites are located in Pierrelatte (Drome). Here, the roses grow in tanks with Perlite and Pouzzolane volcano rocks instead of soil.
